Coating set to begin at expanded HZO facility in Draper, Utah

LAS VEGAS (January 8, 2013) – NavELite, a global provider of backlit magnetic compasses, has signed an agreement with HZO, Inc. provider of a patented, award winning technology used to protect electronics from damage due to moisture, water, and small debris.

The partnership was announced today at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2013, where the newly coated compass is on display for the first time. The compass will be coated at the new high tech HzO facility in Draper, Utah that opened in 2012, and recently expanded operations to offer HZO coating services to qualified business customers.

“This cutting-edge technology will benefit the men and women of the U.S. military, in addition to consumers throughout the world who use our compass for navigational purposes — often in extreme conditions when survival counts,” said Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of NavELite.

The NavELite compass is on the approved items list for the United States Army Ranger School.

“This partnership demonstrates the versatility of our technology entering into different sectors of the electronics marketplace, including the military where HZO has the potential to impact lives in a powerful way,” said Paul Clayson, President and Chief Executive Officer of HZO, Inc. “HZO provides protection from water damage to electronics from the inside out without adding weight to the backpack of soldiers and sportsmen.” Expanding operations to include onsite coating has opened up new markets for the startup that launched at CES in 2012, and has continued through a year of remarkable progress.

“As our talks with major manufacturers continue, we are aware of the needs of smaller manufacturers who would like to benefit from our technology with their products. These are often high value, lower volume products who do not need on-site application operations,” said Clayson. “Where it is feasible for us to offer this service, we have begun coating products at our Draper facility and will continue to do so on a case by case basis.”

HZO’s proprietary technology is available in the consumer electronics, medical technology, and military sectors where negotiations are continuing with major manufacturers seeking to include it with future waves of electronic devices. The technology microscopically protects and seals devices from the harmful effects of water, other liquids, and small debris and is applied through a vapor deposition process.

Following its award-winning debut at CES in 2012, HZO returns to CES January 2013, and will be demonstrating the NavELite compass along with a variety of other uses and applications for its technology.

“HZO has the capacity to protect not only from drips to splashes, but from total submersion as well,” said Ryan Moore, HZO Director of Marketing. “We go beyond water. We will have unique and engaging demonstrations at CES that consumers will find informative and entertaining.”
